President Emmerson Mnangagwa has personally injected $400,000 into the Warriors' campaign for this month's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, Sports Minister Anselem Sanyatwe revealed at the team's send-off dinner this evening.

The donation comes directly from the President's personal funds and is earmarked specifically for the welfare and support of the national team during the tournament.

Addressing the players, government officials, business figures, and football stakeholders gathered for the dinner, Sanyatwe lauded the President's commitment to supporting the nation's athletes.

"His Excellency has always assured that our athletes are supported, and that our national teams, not only soccer, operate within an environment that encourages excellence," Sanyatwe stated.

"Let me proudly inform you that the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe injected a total of $400,000 from his office, and not fiscus, for the welfare of our Warriors during AFCON. And on that note, basing from my background as a military general, failure is are an option."

Curiously, while highlighting Mnangagwa's personal donation, Sanyatwe did not disclose the quantum of financial support the government is putting towards the team's participation through the national budget.

The Warriors are heading to Morocco with high hopes of finally progressing to the knockout stages of the continental showcase for the first time in history.

They face a challenging group stage lineup, where they will compete against football heavyweights Egypt, regional rivals South Africa, and Angola.

Zimbabwe will kick off their quest for glory against the Pharaohs of Egypt on December 22.
