Ihlathi High School will represent Bulawayo Province at the Zimbabwe Under-14 schools basketball tournament to be played in Gweru on June 4 after they beat Masiyephambili College 34-15 at the National Association of School Heads basketball tournament at Montrose Girls High School on Wednesday.

Ihlathi walked away with a gold medal and a shield while Masiyephambili got silver medals for their efforts.

Ihlathi started off the tournament on a good note as they dismissed Emgwanwini 26-4 before they narrowly beat Founders 20-19.

The victory over Founders ensured a semi-final slot for Ihlathi where they thrashed Sizane 63-12 before they won the right to represent the province in Gweru after they dismissed Masiyephambili 34-15 in the final.

Losers Masiyephambili beat Eveline 28-9 in their first game. In the second encounter Masiyephambili beat Convent 26-6 but they did not play the third match as Townsend failed to turn up.

Masiyephambili humiliated Nkulumane 55-10 to qualify for the final where they eventually lost to Ihlathi. Nomagugu Chiwiza of Ihlathi was voted the most valuable player.
