Preparations for the international Martial Arts Harare Mayor's Cup challenge are at an advanced stage which is going to see several African countries participating.
This was revealed at the traffic master parade by Chief Traffic officer Martin Chimombe who is also the head Harare Martial Arts Club.
Chimombe said the Harare mayor Jacob Mafume challenge cup will be held from on 15 and 16 of this month.
Chimombe hailed the Harare Martial Arts team for outstanding performance in Eswatini recently.

"Let us join hands in celebrating our athletes martial-arts team for outstanding recent performances that bring pride to our community," Chimombe said.
"At the Eswatini competition they won seven medals (one gold, one silver and five bronze) demonstrating strong skill and competitive spirit against regional peers," he added.
"This achievement is a testament to the athletes themselves, their coaches, parents and school administrators
who invested time, resources and encouragement to reach the podium,"he said.
"We applaud them and the model they set for other young people: focus, respect and the pursuit of excellence,"he said.
"Looking ahead, ladies and gentleman the team will compete at the international Mayor’s Cup Challenge on 15-16 August 2026,"he added.
He said the event is an excellent opportunity for our pupils to test themselves against a wider field, gain exposure to different fighting styles, and build international friendships that broaden their horizons.
"We encourage the community to support the squad-through attendance where possible, social media encouragement, and practical backing such as travel sponsorships or equipment donations,"he said.
"The Mayor’s Cup will be a stage to showcase the skill and sportsmanship our athletes have cultivated, and we wish them every success,".
