Former Dynamos and Gaborone United coach Elvis Chuchu Chiweshe has been appointed head coach of Swaziland top flight side Manzini Wanderers.

Chiweshe, according to the Times of Swaziland, signed an unspecified deal on Monday night replacing Mlamuli “Sputla” Zwane.

Chiweshe impressed the Wanderers management committee during interviews conducted over the weekend.

His move comes at a time when he had been linked with a return to Dynamos after incumbent Kalisto Pasuwa had seen his charges embarrassed 1-0 by Harare City last Wednesday.

The former Eagles star joins another former Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa, who is at Green Mamba and former Under-17 and Monomotapa gaffer Rodwell Dhlakama at Manzini Sundowns.

Goalkeepers’ coach Zenzile Mpofu has been moved to the development team with assistant coach, Jerry “Mbazo” Gamedze retaining his position.

Details of Chiweshe’s deal could not be immediately established but Dhlakama is reportedly on R10 000 a month excluding bonuses and other allowances.

The former Moneni Pirates coach (Zwane) confirmed that he resigned from the team without giving reasons.

Zwane explained that he was conducting trials on Saturday after reaching an agreement with the team to remain the coach until his successor is appointed.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Wanderers management, players and supporters for the support they have given me throughout my time as head coach. It was good working with everyone, but this is a decision one had to take,” Zwane told the Times.
