ZIMBABWE'S International Boxing Federation minimum weight champion, Beaven Sibanda, is set to be back in action in three months after suffering a serious Achilles tendon injury during a training session in August.
The injury, which occurred in the gym, left Sibanda devastated after hearing a loud snap in his left leg.
"My left Achilles leg snapped, sounded like a gunshot, then I knew I was in a mess," he told NewsDay Sport.
Taking a pragmatic approach to his recovery, Sibanda is aware that rushing back to the ring could jeopardise his health and future performances.
"Honestly, I have no expectations. I'm taking one day at a time, focusing on my recovery," he said.
However, Sibanda's determination to return stronger than ever remains unwavering.
"When I'm back, it's going to be chaos," he promised, hinting at a fierce comeback.
Sibanda's road to recovery will require surgery and extensive rehabilitation.
