ARENEL Movers and Bulawayo Chiefs cancelled each other out in an evenly-contested league match at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

Bulawayo Chiefs enjoyed the lion's share of ball possession in the first-half but they failed to break down the Arenel defence which was marshalled by Arthur Ndlovu and Polite Mwenda.

The first chance of the half fell to Chiefs striker Mpilwenhle Dube after 16 minutes, when he collected a loose ball and fired a scorcher that was tipped over the crossbar by Delron Chuma in goal for Arenel.

Arenel fashioned out an opportunity of their own when a sweeping move culminated in Grey Kufandada turning and firing a thunderbolt that Munashe Ndlovu smootherd for a corner kick after 22 minutes.

From then on, there was nothing much to write home about as both teams struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. The two teams went to the breather deadlocked.

Chiefs’ substitute Panashe Shoko came closest to breaking the deadlock when his well struck free-kick cannoned off the cross bar with Chuma a mere spectator, seven minutes from time.

Bulawayo Chiefs coach Thulani Sibanda said his team failed to play their normal game. “We did not create many chances, actually we have created very good chances before against big teams. But today I think it was a tight game. It could have gone either way," said Sibanda.

“This is not what we wanted but it is a result in football. We were coming from two straight defeats. We needed to stop that and start from somewhere. I will not cry much, yes it's a draw but it was a good game from both teams. Congratulations to the boys.”
