The album cover, however, is likely to send tongues wagging and has raised a few eyebrows on the local showbiz scene, as Iyata exposes quite a bit of flesh.

Born Blessing Rupiya, Iyata announced her entry into the music industry in 2005, with the release of her debut album Amai Muringirozi that she recorded with a mbira band called Future Troublers, which was produced by renowned multi-instrumentalist, Clive “Mono” Mukundu.

On her latest offering she features dancehall chanters, Maggikal on the track Do It, Briss Mbada on the song Tight, and Yagga on tracks Medication and Mvura Inonaya.

Some of the songs on the album are Yo Song, She Lied, the title track Curiously Aroused and Hypocrites.

Speaking to NewsDay Weekender, the dreadlocked Iyata said she had not abandoned music, but it took her almost a decade to come up with the second album, as she was concentrating on her journalism studies at Namibia Polytechnic.

“I was still doing music. It is only that I was dedicating my time to my studies. I have written many songs that can be released anytime,” the leggy beauty said.

“I am currently working on a reggae/dancehall duet with Jamaican artiste Norman Di Barba titled Jackie-Lyn a remix of his song with the same title to be released next month.”

Iyata said she will be releasing two videos with the track Yo Song being the other to be featured on the video.

“My album Curiously Aroused carries love-themed songs with a poetic sexual feel, but at an adult level,” she said.

Iyata, who was once involved in acting with Zuze Zuze Film Productions and is currently signed at Abra Tribe stable, said besides music, she will soon be taking a new challenge and will venture into club deejaying.
