With the help of Patsime Trust, a non-governmental theatre organisation that uses performing arts to lobby and advocate against socio-economic ills, Jiggaz has done several educational dramas in the past.
In the forthcoming production, Jiggaz plays as Mthombeni, with Sitshengisiwe Siziba as his wife and award-winning actor Nash Mphepo stars as Bonjwani Mavhuto and Caroline Mashingaidze features as the latter’s spouse.
Speaking to NewsDay, Patsime Trust director, Jasen Mphepo said the drama is a social commentary that mirrors the hardships faced at household level in a hilarious manner.
“The drama is an epic comedy that is centred on the duo’s friendship and rivalry as individuals that grew up together in the same neighbourhood and are still neighbours. The story hinges on two types of families found in today’s society. Honesty, betrayal, trickery, humour and friendship are part of this comic feud between Bonjwani Mavhuto and Mthombeni,” he said.
Mphepho said the hilarious film also showed how resourceful a man can become to fend for his family, as Bonjwani and his wife resorted to dishonesty and treachery to access electricity, water and groceries from their neighbour, Mthombeni after the death of their son.
Mphepo said his organisation was striving to find innovative ways of sending messages to the audience through arts.
