Kelly Khumalo has sent a message of support to the family of her slain boyfriend Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, the Sowetan reported on Wednesday.

Meyiwa was shot in the chest on Sunday night while visiting Khumalo in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.

The short statement read: “Kelly Khumalo and her family would like to express their sincere condolences to the Meyiwa family for the loss of Senzo Meyiwa, who was tragically shot at their family home in Vosloorus, in the presence of Kelly’s family [her mother Ntombi, sister Zandi, and son Christian] Tumelo and Mthoko [Senzo’s friends] and Longwe Twala.

“This has been an incredibly traumatic experience for the Khumalo family. As the law takes its course, they request that they be given space and privacy to deal with this tragedy; and they thank you for the prayers and support.”

Khumalo has been unreachable since the police reportedly confiscated her cellphone following the shooting.
