M-NET’s Zambezi Magic channel head Addiel Dzinoreva is set to meet with local producers today to explore ways in which they can contribute content on the new channel launched on July 1 to showcase productions from Southern Africa.

The discussions will see Zimbabwean productions featured on the new channel, which had been accused of being biased towards South African content.
Zimbabwe International Film Festival Trust (ZIFFT) executive director Nigel Munyati who is hosting Dzinoreva urged local film makers to milk the rare opportunity.
“ZIFFT urges local filmmakers to utilise this prospect. It will promote local content internationally and trigger growth of the industry,” Munyati said.
“For a long time Zimbabweans, who subscribe to DStv, have been looking forward to the day when they could watch local films on this platform.”
Since its launch, the channel has won a huge following among local soap addicts who have remained glued to the television following popular South African soaps including Generations, Muvhango, Isidingo, Zone 14 and Jacob’s Cross.
