HARARE, Jul 3 (NewsDay Live) - The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) has mobilised food and temporary shelter for 12 staff members whose housing units were gutted by fire in Avondale on Tuesday.
In a statement, the UZ said: "Temporary accommodation, meals, bedding, clothing and other essential necessities have been arranged to ensure the immediate safety, dignity and well-being of those affected."
The institution also said it was providing psychosocial support to help staff and their families cope with the trauma caused by the incident.
"Recognising the emotional and psychological impact of the incident, counselling and trauma support services are being provided through the University's Psychosocial Clinic to support affected staff members and their families," UZ said.
No injuries were recorded despite the extensive damage on the buildings.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
