Kadoma rewards ‘compliant’ ratepayers with fridges, solar kits

Local News

Kadoma has rewarded over 800 compliant ratepayers with prizes ranging from fridges and gas stoves to solar and WiFi kits in a bid to encourage residents to clear their outstanding bills.

Mayor Nigel Ruzario announced the incentives during the annual ratepayers draw on Thursday at Cameroon Square.

He stressed that consistent revenue collection was essential for maintaining and expanding services.

He urged residents with outstanding balances to engage the council and take advantage of payment arrangements.

The draw was open exclusively to residents whose accounts were fully settled or reduced to arrears below US$10 by February 28, 2026.

Prizes were distributed across five geographic zones, with Rimuka Zone – the largest – accounting for 378 winners.

“We looked at what makes a real difference in homes – from refrigeration and cooking solutions to solar and connectivity,” Ruzario said.

“The goal is to give back in a way that improves daily life and supports our vision for a smarter, more resilient Kadoma.”

In the Town Zone, 90 winners received solar kits, TV screens, and WiFi equipment, a package the Mayor said reflected the council’s push toward energy resilience and digital access.

Smaller zones, including Effiel Flats, saw six winners receive deep freezers.

“The goal is to give back in a way that improves daily life and supports our vision for a smarter, more resilient Kadoma.”

Town Clerk Malvern Dondo, Chamber Secretary Willard Mangwengwende, and Communications Manager Walter Ndlovu attended the event, alongside residents and other stakeholders.
