ZRA chief executive Munodawafa wins top award

Munodawafa dedicated the recognition to ZRA’s team of engineers, praising their technical expertise and commitment.

MUNYARADZI Munodawafa, chief executive of the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA), has been recognised for outstanding public sector leadership, highlighting his strategic vision, consistency, innovation and professionalism.

Munodawafa received the award at the 2026 Business Awards hosted by the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network in Harare, ranking among the top 10 professionals celebrated for driving institutional performance and national impact.

According to Zimbabwe CEO’s Network, the accolade reflects sustained leadership excellence, strong strategic direction in public sector operations and high standards of professional conduct.

Among Munodawafa’s landmark achievements is the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project, a pioneering engineering initiative considered the first of its kind globally. The project has strengthened dam safety, ensured long-term infrastructure resilience, improved the lives of communities reliant on the Zambezi River and bolstered regional energy security.

Munodawafa dedicated the recognition to ZRA’s team of engineers, praising their technical expertise and commitment.

“This recognition belongs to the entire team of engineers and professionals whose dedication and technical excellence continue to drive our success,” he said.

“The achievements we celebrate today are a direct result of their hard work, resilience and shared commitment to delivering sustainable solutions for our region.”

Under his leadership, ZRA has advanced co-operation among riparian States, including Zimbabwe, Zambia and other Sadc countries. The authority’s efforts to ensure equitable use and sustainable management of the Zambezi River’s resources have earned it regional and international acclaim.

The award further enhances ZRA’s profile as a results-driven institution, reinforcing stakeholder confidence in its strategic role in managing shared water resources and promoting regional energy security.
