ZANU PF Makoni district co-ordination committee secretary for lands Shepherd Nyika, who is also a shadow Makoni Central MP, has given a lifeline to a woman who delivered triplets at Rusape General Hospital.
The triplets, two boys and a girl, were delivered via an operation and the mother, Agatha Dahwa (31), and babies are healthy.
In an interview with journalists this week, Rusape General Hospital medical superintendent Stewart Karembo applauded the gesture by Nyika, who donated disposable diapers, money, clothes and transport to take them back to their village.
Karembo said the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Rusape circuit also chipped in with clothes and disposable diapers, worth around US$500.
He said morale was high at the hospital as there were no complications reported from both the babies and the mother.
“The sticking point we have here is that the mother is on breastfeeding, so they need support with formula milk.
“The whole theatre at the hospital and supporting staff are happy after a successful operation,” Karembo added.
“We want to thank honourable Shepherd Nyika who came with assistance of clothes, pampers and money for the family and we also have the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Rusape which assisted with clothes and diapers of close to US$500 and pledged to help till they reach six months.”

Dahwa has since been discharged.
She is now a mother of six after delivering twins — two girls — almost 10 years ago and a baby girl in 2020 before the triplets this months.
“This is a gift from God and I appreciate it,” she said.
“I want to thank the general staff at the hospital after a successful operation.”
The father of the children, Conwell Nyamutena (46), said the assistance provided by Nyika and the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe came at a time when they were facing financial challenges.
“I want to applaud Comrade Nyika for what he has done, taking care of the children until they were discharged from hospital, we are happy,” he said.
He also applauded the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Rusape circuit.
Nyika, a young farmer of repute, said he was happy that the triplets were born in his constituency.
“I am overwhelmed with this rare occasion and it’s an honour that this happened in my constituency,” he said.
“Triplets are not common. When I heard about the news, I had to drive to the hospital and meet the parents.
“I will continue to assist this family in every way as part of my corporate social responsibility.”
