A MUFAKOSE man will spend the next 20 years at the Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison after he was found guilty of raping a two-year-old minor.
The 21-year-old man was arraigned before Harare magistrate Noel Mupeiwa who ruled that his defence was weak and there was overwhelming evidence against him.
The convict is a family friend to the complainant.
The State represented by Cecilia Mashingaidze said on January 7 this year, the convict visited the complainant’s parents where he sat in the same room with the minor and her step-brother.
The minor’s mother was in the kitchen when she heard the minor screaming and she rushed to check on her.
However, the toddler kept screaming without saying anything.
Her mother suspected that the convict had violated the minor and reported the matter to the police.
