A 31-YEAR-OLD man was on Tuesday this week denied bail when he before Harare magistrate Tapiwa Kuhudzai facing a charge of armed robbery.
Tafadzwa Mbombo was remanded in custody to September 29, 2025 pending finalisation of investigations.
The State, represented by Lawrence Gangarawe, opposed bail, arguing that Mbombo is facing a serious charge which is likely to attract a custodial sentence.
Gangarawe also argued that there was a risk that if Mbombo is released, he may interfere with State witnesses since they reside in the same neighbourhood.
The court heard that on September 5 this year, Mbombo and his alleged accomplices struck John Brian Tuzora (30) with unknown object on the right eye.
The prosecution stated that Tuzora’s eye had to be removed because it had been permanently damaged.
Mbombo and his accomplices then robbed Tuzora of a cellphone, US$40 and a wallet containing his documents.
The State also said on the same day, John Chikwaka (38) was on his way from work at Hatcliffe Dam when Mbombo hit him with an unknown object twice in the head, once on the jaw and several times on his back before robbing him of US$30.
