HARARE, Feb 8 (NewsDayLive) - Two members of a notorious four-man robbery gang who pounced on their victims after offering them a lift have been slapped with a 10-year jail term each.
The two, Munyaradzi Sigareta Zakaria (38) and Zvikomborero Rukoni Zvikoni (29), were sentenced on their own plea of guilt to the charge.
The court heard that the duo, together with their two accomplices who are still at large, offered the victims a ride in their car, a Toyota Pro-box, and later robbed them at knifepoint.
In the first count, they threatened Bernadette Yvete Chafachinoyaura with knives along Harare Drive, Marlborough, and stole her phone, cash and her engagement ring.
In the second count, they blindfolded Patience Dadirai Choto, pressed a knife against her chest and stole her property along Lomagundi Road.
The sentencing comes as the country is facing a rise in robbery cases.
