It is almost a month since the Big Brother Amplified (BBA) reality show kicked off and viewers of the show have started criticising different housemates on Facebook fan pages.
Both Zimbabwean representatives in the BBA show, Vimbai Mutinhiri and Wendall Parson, have Facebook pages where different viewers discuss various issues concerning the show, the housemates’ performances and who to vote for.
Vimbai’s page is under username “Big Brother Amplified Vimbai Mutinhiri” while Wendall’s page is “Vote For Wendall BB Amplified 2011.”
Vimbai though has constantly been the main topic on Wendall’s page with people sending hate messages, especially after she told other housemates about what Wendall had secretly told her.
Wendall told Vimbai how he planned to burn Vina’s clothes after she hid his cigarettes. Vina did not seem at all surprised and told the girls that Wendall had a personal vendetta against her.
This move by Vimbai was not appreciated by members as reflected in their comments.
One message on Wendall’s fan page from Tanaka Mutekede read: “The only reason why Vimbai back-stabbed Wendall is because she needs that money desperately . . . she must have a facelift just to get rid of that ugly face of hers.”
Members from Vimbai’s fan page also responded by attacking Wendall saying he needed to borrow clothes from Vimbai as he only had three T-shirts.

Kudzai Blonde Maphosa Shambamuto said: “Someone said Wendall should borrow clothes from Vimbai, oh what a shame! Wendall goes for quality not quantity, what’s the need of having many clothes of cheap imitation?”
Tinashe Mutinhiri, brother to Vimbai, who is also a member of both pages, gave his views about Vimbai back-stabbing Wendall saying: “If you wanted to hear someone’s true thoughts, would you not tell them what they wanted to hear? This is a game of strategy.
After all, Vimbai could’ve put Wendall up for eviction if she really wanted to stab him in the back,” said Mutinhiri.
By way of calming the cold war between the two fan pages, one neutral supporter, Obert Gondo, said: “Let’s support one another as Zimbabweans. The game is just starting, there is still a long way to go, Wendall and Vimbai need us as one team. Let’s remain united.”
Some notorious fans who were known by the fan page administrators for being a nuisance have since been removed from both fan pages.
The administrators have been busy deleting abusive comments, a move which has not been accepted by members.
Annalee Howell-Williamson wrote: “If my posts are going to be deleted every time then I give up.
Seriously, administrators of this site, do not underestimate my intelligence.”
Chris Musanhi on Wendall’s page also complained saying: “I’ve just been blocked from ‘Judas’ Vimbai’s page for donating my thoughts. This is unbelievable and they’ve got the nerve to defend her.”
Kline Step, one of the administrators for Vimbai’s fan page, said BBA was a game but people were now taking it too personally.
“As administrators, we have been responding to people’s comments, both positive and negative, as they are both constructive in their own way. Diplomacy is what we thrive on but some people politicise everything and take it too far, so we remain with no option but to block them from the page. I sleep late at times trying to liaise with some of the nonsense,” said Kline.
Kline added that the page was set up to promote positive and progressive ideas for Vimbai.
Meanwhile, Bernadina (Namibia), Confidence (Ghana), Michael (Mozambique), Sharon (Uganda) and Vina (Nigeria) face possible eviction from the BBA Heads’ house on Sunday.
Initially Hanny (Ethiopia) was up for eviction but Vimbai decided to save her and put up Michael instead who she had unfinished business with, as she was mad with him for saying the Zimbabwean representatives had been sent by the government to represent the country.
