Arts industry mourn actress

THE arts industry has been plunged into mourning after the passing on of veteran actress and founder of Mufakose Film society Stella January.

January, famed for her role in the drama Yellow Card also featured in productions such as Mawoko Matema playing the character of Mai Mufundisi, Tangled, Gringo the Trouble maker, Ndafunga Kure and Chipo, among others.

January’s younger sister Ceicilia Zimbanje told NewsDay Life & Style that the actress died on Wednesday night after a long battle with cancer. She had been unwell since February last year after undergoing an operation at Karanda Hospital.

Mourners are gathered at 23 Nzou Street Mufakose in Harare, and she will be laid to rest tomorrow at Glenforest
