FILMATIC Packaging Systems managing director Riaan Van Zyl will be the keynote speaker tomorrow at the Mechanisation for Industrialisation conference in Bulawayo.

The conference is a joint-partnership between the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) and Alpha Media Holdings (AMH), whose main purpose was to link industry and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
“Antiquated equipment and lack of access to finance to acquire new, efficient and technologically advanced equipment has been identified as one of the major factors affecting the efficiency and competitiveness of local industry,” CZI said.
“The three partners will, therefore, create a platform on the sidelines of ZITF 2016, where local industrialists, OEMs and the financial sector will come together to find ways to exploit the opportunities that are available for mutual benefit.”
The conference was expected to create value and opportunity for OEMs as the market opportunities expand beyond Zimbabwe. It would also create opportunities for further engagement among regional industrialists for economic cooperation.
As such, the event was also expected to take a regional perspective, in line with the Sadc region industrialisation agenda. Therefore, some of the participants will come from regional and international areas. The conference will be moderated by CZI president Busisa Moyo, while ZITF chairperson Bekithemba Nkomo will make the opening remarks.
