Musicians lined up to take to the stage include dendera exponent Sulumani Chimbetu, fast-rising contemporary musician Andy Muridzo, dancehall sensation Soul Jah Love, gospel singer Fungisai Zvakavapano and and Pamela “Gonyeti” Zulu.
An event organiser, Dunmore Mutyambizi, confirmed the gig, which he said was organised with the youths in mind as they wanted to create a platform where young people in the province could interact and reflect on their achievements and challenges as they wind down the year.
“The year is about to conclude and, as youths, we need to meet on a more relaxed and entertaining platform and enjoy ourselves,” he said.
“The gig marks the onset of the festive season. The gala is for the people from Mashonaland East Province and judging by the line-up of the artists, we are expecting many people.”
Mutyambizi assured those attending the gala that a huge tent would be pitched around the stadium in case it would rain.
“All in all, the initiative is being led by the youth in the province, who are celebrating the onset of the festive season through a music festivity,” he said.
