KENYA has scrapped the requirement to pay for Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for Zimbabweans travelling to that country.
An ETA is an entry requirement offered by countries to visa-exempt foreign nationals.
The ETA is for single entry, and it is valid for 90 days.
In a statement, Foreign Affairs and International Trade ministry spokesperson Michael Chiwoneso Mukura said the Kenyan government only required Zimbabwean travellers to apply for authorisation on the country’s digital platforms for identification purposes.
“The Foreign Affairs and International Trade ministry wishes to inform the public that the Government of Kenya no longer requires Zimbabwean travellers to pay for an ETA when they apply to visit Kenya,” Mukura said.
“Instead, the Government of Kenya requires Zimbabwean travellers to apply for authorisation on the digital platforms for identification.”
In addition to Zimbabwe and South Africa, the exemption has also been extended to travellers from Eritrea, Congo-Brazzaville, Comoros, Mozambique, San Marino and Ethiopia.
