Trevor Ndlovu notched a brace with Mkhululi Moyo adding the third for Bulawayo City as the local authority-run side claimed their seventh win of the season, which saw them climb two steps up the ladder to position eight with 28 points.

The Green Machine got their face saver two minutes into optional time from Devon Chafa.

Bulawayo City have gone for three matches without defeat since Try Ncube took over from suspended head coach, Philani Ncube, after having played two draws against Hwange and Dynamos.

Caps United, on the other hand, suffered their third defeat of the season and all three were in Bulawayo having lost to How Mine and Highlanders. They now trail log leaders FC Platinum by five points.

Ncube was pleased that their plan had worked against a strong Caps United side.

“It was a difficult match, but we got our tactics spot on. We really wanted the three points,” he said.

“We knew they (Caps) were going to come at us and the strategy was to soak that pressure, create chances and score and we did just that. We are on the right track. Our plan is to survive relegation so we want to get as much points as we can.”

Ndlovu started the move that led to the first goal when he combined with skipper Xolisani Moyo before setting up Mukhululi Moyo who then blasted his effort past goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda after just seven minutes.

Ndlovu was on target three minutes before the break rolling the ball into an empty net after he was set up by Welcome Ndiweni who tore through the Caps United defence.

Ndlovu completed his brace after benefitting from a Xolisani Moyo set-up following a free kick by Lewis Ncube after 65 minutes.

Xolisani Moyo set up Ndlovu from a Lewis Ncube free-kick in the 65th minute and Ndlovu wasted no time inside the penalty box beating goalkeeper Sibanda again.

Caps United, who played two goalless draws before losing to Bulawayo City yesterday, were out of their game with only Joel Ngodzo and Hardlife Zvirekwi making meaningful raids inside the hosts’ half, with veteran striker Leonard Tsipa twice failing to convert with only goalkeeper Ndodana Sibanda to beat.

Their only shot at goal was a long-range effort by defender Justice Jangano in the 64th minute which didn’t trouble Sibanda.

Assistant coach Mark Mathe was not happy, but said the Green Machine will bounce back.

“Overally we are not happy. One thing that got us worried the most is the number of goals that we conceded. We just need to go back to the drawing board and prepare for the next assignment. Our defence seemed to desert us today but it is still a long away to go; we will bounce back,” Mathe said.
