Club chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube said they expect a multitude of the team’s supporters from around the country to throng the city of Gweru after three weeks of inactivity following the postponement of the epic battle against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium.

“We have been out of action for quite a number of weeks. We play again away this weekend away from home. We need to highlight and appeal to our travelling fans; we know they will be travelling in their great numbers because there has been no football in a while,” Dube said.

Highlanders were last in action on July 22 when they beat Triangle 1-0 at Gibbo Stadium before their league game against Dynamos was cancelled in the subsequent two weekends.

In the absence of coach Madinda Ndlovu who was said to be attending to urgent family business and missed out on yesterday’s Press conference, Dube assured the Highlanders’ fans that all the players were available for selection, including mid-season signings Tinashe Makanda, Tafadzwa Sibanda and Denzel Khumalo.

Meanwhile, Chicken Inn striker Obriel Chrinda was voted player of the month for July while his coach Joey Antipas clinched the coach of the month award.

In the only three games, they played in July; the Gamecocks got the highest number of points after playing a draw away to Dynamos, beating Nichrut 4-0 at Luveve where Chirinda notched a hat-trick before their victory against Mutare City Rovers away from home.

As they close in on log-leaders FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum Stars, they take on the latter at Luveve Stadium tomorrow in a match that promises fireworks.
