Highlanders and Chicken Inn centre-back Hebert Dick have been summoned to appear before the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee for alleged untoward behaviour during the two clubs’ league match on Africa Day.
Bosso and Dick, in his personal capacity, have been summoned to appear before the league’s disciplinary committee next Tuesday at the PSL offices in Harare.
Highlanders have been charged for the uncouth behaviour of their fans during the match, which led to the injury of two Chicken Inn players, goalkeeper Liberty Chirava and defender Frank Mvula, with the latter being rushed to hospital for medical treatment. Dick is charged with allegedly assaulting a Highlanders marshal during half-time.
Both summons are based on reports made to the PSL by the involved clubs.
Chicken Inn reported: “Just before the resumption of the second half as our players were preparing for the second half, a Highlanders Football Club marshal went into the pitch despite the presence of police and he started having altercations with the players.
And during that time the supporters joined in throwing missiles which included stones.
“Two of our players were badly injured, Liberty Chirava and Frank Mvula. They were both attended to by doctors from both clubs and Liberty managed to continue playing.
“The ambulance had to be called in to take Frank Mvula to hospital at Galen House in town, (and) as we write this report he is going for an X-ray to ascertain internal injuries.”

Bosso are therefore charged with infringing Order 31:1 of the PSL rules and regulations which state that it is an offence for supporters to invade the pitch, throw or attempt to throw missiles or act violently against anyone during the game.
On the other hand, Highlanders state that: “During the half-time break, Chicken Inn Football Club officials manning the gate to the pitch allowed a Highlanders marshal into the pitch for reasons best known to themselves.
“As far as Highlanders is concerned, Highlanders marshals do perform their duties during Highlanders’ home matches.
“How they were allowed into the stadium can only be explained by Chicken Inn FC taking cognisance of the tight security that they had deployed. As Chicken Inn players entered the field, Herbert Dick confronted the Highlanders marshal and attacked him with fists resulting in the rest of the Chicken Inn players joining the assault.
“Fans responded to the assault by throwing missiles towards the Chicken Inn FC players resulting in one Chicken FC player being injured in the process.”
Dick is charged with breaching the same PSL rule for assaulting, threatening, intimidating, coercing, interfering, misleading or insulting a match official, player or official of the league, press or media, or any other person, before or during the match.
The summons, dated May 27 2011, were signed by PSL executive office Kennedy Ndebele.
Highlanders eventually came from behind to win the turbulent derby 2-1 with goals from Innocent Mapuranga and Eric Mudzingwa with Chicken Inn scoring through Thomas Chimenya.
