SCOTTLAND head coach Norman Mapeza is hoping veteran forward Knowledge Musona can remain injury-free as the former Warriors captain enjoys a sensational run of form that has propelled the club to the top of the league standings.
Musona was the hero on Sunday, scoring a brace to inspire defending champions Scottland to a crucial victory over title rivals Hardrock in a high-stakes top-of-the-table clash at Rufaro Stadium.
The win allowed Scottland to open a four-point lead at the summit of the table, moving to 37 points with 16 matches remaining in the campaign.
Musona endured a slow start to the season, struggling to find his rhythm in the opening rounds. However, the 35-year-old's recent resurgence has been nothing short of remarkable, transforming Scottland into genuine title favourites.
Following his match-winning display against Hardrock, Musona has climbed to joint fourth on the league's top scorers' chart with seven goals, all scored in his last five matches. His impressive streak includes two braces in his last three appearances.
Musona now shares fourth place with teammate and longtime friend Khama Billiat.
The veteran striker has firmly entered the Golden Boot race, sitting just two goals behind current leader Ralph Kawondera, who has nine goals. He is also one goal behind Dynamos' Ghanaian forward Frank Agyemang and Hardrock striker Washington Navaya, last season's Golden Boot winner, who both have eight goals.
Speaking after the victory, Mapeza could not hide his admiration for Musona's work ethic and influence on the team.

"The guy is working so hard," Mapeza said.
"Knowledge, Khama Billiat and the rest of the guys have been working so hard. Sometimes it's difficult with performances, but what he has been giving us in the last five games has been fantastic.
"My wish is for him to stay healthy, avoid injuries, and keep delivering the way he is doing."
Scottland's title credentials will face another stern test this weekend when they travel to Mhondoro-Ngezi to take on Ngezi Platinum Stars as they seek to extend their winning streak.
It promises to be a difficult assignment for the league leaders. Ngezi Platinum Stars proved tough opponents in the reverse fixture, earning a point after holding Scottland to a 1-1 draw at Rufaro Stadium.
However, with Musona in red-hot form, Mapeza's men will be confident of collecting maximum points on the road.
