Sables Name 26-Man Squad for Blue Bulls Training Camp

Zimbabwe Rugby Union has released a 26-man Sables squad for the highly anticipated Blue Bulls Training Camp scheduled from May 27 to 30, as coach Pieter Benade's charges begin serious preparations for their June 20 clash against South Africa A. 

The squad, drawn from clubs across Zimbabwe, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Spain and Bahrain, reflects the growing diaspora of Zimbabwean rugby talent operating across the globe and underlines the depth available  

In the backs, Old Hararians Rugby Club dominate the local contingent, providing Hilton Mudariki, Brendan Mason, Trevor Gurwe and Tatenda Kamubvumbi. Harare Sports Club contribute Kudzai Mashawi, Darrel Makwasha and Godfrey Magaramombe, while South Africa-based players Edward Sigauke of Emeris Rugby Club, Kyle Theron of College Rovers, Munashe Dukuswa of the University of Pretoria and Keegan Joubert of Durbanville Bellville round out the backline. 

An updated backline addition sees unattached Tapiwa Mafura also called into the camp. 

The forwards showcase impressive international spread. Bornwell Gwinji of Gernika Rugby Taldea in Spain and Simba Mandioma of C.P. Les Abelles, also in Spain, bring European club rugby experience, while Kelvin Kanenungo travels from Bahrain Rugby Club and Bryan Chiang from Broughton Park in the United Kingdom. Local representation comes through Jeff Makoni, Zvikomborero Chimoto and Aiden Burnett of Old Hararians, alongside Tadiwanashe Gwashu and Vuyani Dhlomo of Harare Sports Club. South Africa-based forwards Godfrey Muzanargwo, Munashe Mhere, Polite Phiri and Liam Larkan complete the pack alongside unattached Godwin Mangenje. 

The Blue Bulls camp represents the first of three intensive preparation blocks before the Sables' departure for the Nations Cup in the United States on June 28.
