Zimbabwe fans get affordable World Cup access

ZIMBABWEAN football fans will be able to watch every minute of the 2026 Fifa World Cup live after Azam TV secured broadcasting rights and introduced entry packages priced from US$10.

The deal means all 104 matches will be broadcast in Zimbabwe, as well as Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, and Rwanda.

By setting packages at US$10, Azam TV is targeting households priced out of higher satellite subscription fees, making the tournament more accessible beyond major urban centres.

The low-cost broadcasting package is expected to significantly widen World Cup access across Zimbabwe and the region, shifting viewing from premium subscription platforms to more affordable household-based consumption during the 2026 tournament.

Azam TV’s business development and technology CEO, Jacob Joseph, said the arrangement ensures fans across the region will not miss any action.

“The stage is set for the ultimate battle for glory, with rising stars, global icons, favourite teams and players. Every goal and every save will be shown live,” he said in a Press statement released yesterday.

For Zimbabwe, where the cost of premium satellite packages has long kept many households off global sporting events, the move is expected to bring World Cup viewing into homes rather than bars and public venues.

Joseph said Azam TV is positioning itself as an affordable option for families, students, and small businesses that want live coverage without straining household budgets.

He added that coverage will extend beyond matches to include expert analysis, build-up programmes, and exclusive entertainment content before and during the tournament.

Joseph described the rights acquisition as a landmark achievement reflecting Azam TV’s commitment to delivering world-class sports coverage and premium entertainment.

The deal spans eight countries, highlighting Azam TV’s growing footprint across Africa.

The service is already established in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, while expansion into Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe signals a broader push into Southern and Eastern Africa.

“Football is more than just a game. It unites people, families, and communities, and Azam TV is honoured to connect audiences to this historic global event,” Joseph said.
