ProBhora U21 League brings global eyes to local talent

ZIMBABWE'S new elite Under-21 football competition, the ProBhora League, was launched on Saturday at Heritage School in Borrowdale.

The league brings together eight academies for a season of Under-21 fixtures aimed at creating a pathway between youth football and the professional game. Opening day matches featured Aces Youth Soccer Academy, Athletes Sphere, BN Academy, Heritage Real Oviedo, Legends Academy, Real Stars Football Academy, Scorpions Academy, and Total Football Academy.

All ProBhora League matches will be streamed live through the SportsAi Zimbabwe platform. The platform also provides match statistics and individual player data, giving players a digital record of competitive performances.

League spokesperson Murape Murape provided insight into the initiative.

"The inauguration combines high-stakes elite competition with analytical tools to change player development. We are now documenting performance in a way that can be tracked locally and internationally,” said the former Dynamos captain.

The use of live broadcasting and data analytics at U21 level is a first for Zimbabwean junior football. Previously, comprehensive match statistics and global streaming were largely restricted to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and national team fixtures.

The ProBhora League said the model is designed to give scouts and clubs outside Zimbabwe access to footage and data from every game. Each player will have a digital portfolio generated from official match records.

The league will run through the 2026 season, with fixtures scheduled between the eight member academies. It positions itself as the country’s premier U21 development competition.

No attendance figures or results from the opening day were released by the league.
