NORTHERN Region Soccer League (NRSL) vice-chairperson Sweeney Mushonga has called on all clubs to uphold the spirit of fair play as the race for both the championship and survival intensifies with just two rounds of matches left.
“It has been another pulsating season, and we call upon all teams to ensure fair play prevails. May the best team win though, sadly, some will face relegation,” Mushonga said.
He expressed satisfaction with how the season has been handled, highlighting the absence of abandoned matches or disciplinary issues that could influence the final standings.
“We are pleased that there are no unfinished games before our disciplinary committee that might affect the log once concluded,” Mushonga added.
At the summit, N’ombeyaora and Agama FC are neck and neck, separated by a single point.
Both sides are expected to collect maximum points tomorrow when they face Karoi United and Ali Sundowns, respectively.
However, all eyes will be at the bottom of the table, where the relegation dogfight is wide open.
The last four teams — Shamva Mine (37 points), Chinhoyi Stars (36), Ngezi U19 (34), and Ali Sundowns (33) — are separated by just four points, meaning any slip-up could spell doom and a drop to the unfashionable Division Two.
