Saruchera fined for unruly conduct

IN a decisive move, the Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) has taken strong action against N’ombeyaora FC coach Nesbert Saruchera following his disruptive behaviour during the match against Agama FC on Sunday.

The match ended in a victory for Agama FC, but not without controversy.

In a statement dated September 15, 2025, the league outlined that Saruchera entered the field of play in protest after Agama FC was awarded a goal, an act deemed highly unprofessional.

His actions continued post-match as he confronted match officials regarding the decision.

“This behaviour is not only against league standards, but also compromises the safety and integrity of the sport” the NRSL wrote.

The NRSL noted that this is not the first time Saruchera has faced consequences for such conduct.

Last year, he was fined US$3 500 for similar infractions, raising concerns about his ability to adhere to the league’s code of conduct.

As a result, Saruchera has been fined an additional US$5 000 and will serve a two-match touchline ban during the next two games.

The league has also addressed the behaviour of Agama FC supporters, who invaded the field at the conclusion of the match.

“This action not only posed safety risks, but also disrupted the orderly conclusion of the game” the NRSL warned.

In response, Agama FC were fined US$5 000, with the club required to submit a report within 14 days detailing measures to prevent future incidents.

League chairman Martin Kweza emphasised the importance of safety and responsible conduct, calling for all participants — players, coaches, officials and fans — to maintain respect for the game and each other.

He reiterated that field invasions and unprofessional behaviour would not be tolerated, warning that further infractions could lead to more severe sanctions, including playing matches behind closed doors.

In light of these incidents, the NRSL has urged all coaches to act as role models, maintaining composure and professionalism throughout matches.

The league’s commitment to upholding high standards of conduct aims to protect the integrity of the sport and ensure a safe environment for everyone involved.
