SAUL Chaminuka has been appointed as Green Fuel head coach, reuniting with his former boss Taurayi Mangwiro who is the assistant coach.

The two collaborated at Caps United with Mangwiro at the helm while Chaminuka was his assistant.

Green Fuel announced the new setup yesterday, weeks after they dismissed Rodwell Dhlakama over poor results.

Chaminuka, who was poached from Bikita Minerals where he had stabilised the ship, faces a mammoth task in his first assignment when his side clashes with high-riding Manica Diamonds in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the weekend.

After Manica Diamonds, they will play two home games against Bikita Minerals and Highlanders at the Green Fuel Arena.

Mangwiro presided over the team when Green Fuel beat ZPC Kariba at home at the weekend as the club awaited the arrival of Chaminuka.

Innocent Chogugudza, who has been running the show, since head coach Rodwell Dhlakama left the club last month, remains goalkeepers’ coach.

“Former Warriors assistant coach, Saul “Tizirirai” Chaminuka, who has been with Bikita Minerals, has joined Green Fuel as head coach replacing Rodwell Dhlakama. He will be assisted by Taurayi Mangwiro while Innocent Chogugudza remains goalkeepers' coach,” the club said.

Chaminuka was reportedly also on the radar of strugglers Yadah and Hwange.

Dhlakama left Green Fuel last month after losing 3-0 to Caps United following another string of poor results.

He was assisted by Darlington Dodo, who also parted ways with the club.

Green Fuel, plotting another survival in the league, are eighth on the table with 15 points from 11 games. They recorded four wins, three draws and four defeats.
