Ngezi went into the match winless, following a draw against Arenel Movers and a home defeat to FC Platinum in their previous two matches.

Champions Ngezi Platinum Stars’ bad start to the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign continued after they were held to a goalless draw by ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga Stadium yesterday.

Ngezi went into the match winless, following a draw against Arenel Movers and a home defeat to FC Platinum in their previous two matches.

Yesterday’s contest was characterised by missed chances from both teams.

ZPC Kariba’s Samuel Makawa who was probably the best player on the park made the first attempt 15 minutes into the match but was stopped in his tracks.

Six minutes later, he fluffed his lines coming in from the left side.

Ngezi Platinum almost penetrated the ZPC Kariba defence line, but Moses Demera and Boid Mutukure came to the rescue for the hosts.

It was a tale of missed chances in the second half with the two teams settling for a share of spoils.

Ngezi Platinum assistant coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva said they were pleased with picking up a point on the road.

“A good point particularly looking at where we are coming from. In our last match we didn’t play well but today at least we are happy we drew. The boys did well today, but unfortunately we didn't score. We expect to play better in our next match,” he said.

ZPC mentor Newman Chitewe was pleased to get something out of this match.

“Ngezi is a good team. Last year we considered eight goals, so we are happy with a draw. In our next game against chicken Inn, we expect to play better and get a good result,” he said.
