DESPITE collecting his first set of maximum points against Yadah FC, Simba Bhora coach Tonderayi Ndiraya said he was disappointed by his side's performance in their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.
A solitary first half strike by Alexander Mandinyenya was enough to hand Ndiraya his first win of the season.
Mandinyenya capitalised on the only chance Simba Bhora got to score a beauty which beat Yadah FC goalie Panashe Nyabunga all systems out.
“Honestly, I’m happy with the result but not too happy with the performance. We didn’t play football today and the attitude was not correct and I thought Yadah dominated the entire match,” Ndiraya told the media afterwards.
“However, in those bad moments I’m happy about how we defended our lead. The play is totally different to our performance against Dynamos. Maybe it was psychological to play a big team (Dynamos) and get to play a small then you get this performance, it’s not a good show.”
Ndiraya’s charges were cagey particularly in the second half, which is understandable for a team that was chasing its first win in the topflight.

“We played seasoned contenders, a team with lots of movements and the mobility was just too hot for us to handle, but I’m happy that we kept our shape at the end and defended our lead,” Ndiraya observed.
Simba Bhora started the season slowly, losing their two opening matches to champions FC Platinum and runners-up Chicken Inn FC before grinding a draw with his former paymasters Dynamos FC — only managing two goals from three matches.
Ndiraya was happy to see his side notch up their first win.
“It’s exciting to get the first win of the league, we had a difficult three weeks, but I’m happy the win will take a bit of pressure from us and the win will give us confidence as we go into the next match.”
Yadah FC won their opening match against newboys Green Fuel before losing to returnees Hwange 1-nil before being held to a draw by newboys Shesham.
Yadah FC gaffer Expense Chitukutuku applauded his youthful side’s performance.
“These are youngsters I am working with and they are a good team of young talent. I think they will improve in the following matches. We could have buried the match, unfortunately they defended well. We lost today, it’s done and now we are going to prepare for our next encounter against Cranborne Bullets next week,” he said.
