CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs are up in arms with the league management over the Supersport deal amid claims that it was not endorsed by the teams.

They further claim the manner the whole process was done unilaterally.
The clubs, who are seeking a meeting with the league leadership to clear a number of grey areas, registered their displeasure with the top-flight league management chaired by Twine Phiri, accusing it of refusing them access to the agreement between the South Africa-based television channel and the league two months after it was sealed.
The clubs argue that they do not know what is in the agreement as they were not represented when the deal was sealed as should be the case and that the PSL continued to make it a secret. They said they were not aware of the guidelines of the agreement and how they were supposed to conduct themselves under the agreement.
PSL signed a six-year broadcast rights deal with SuperSport International (Pvt) Ltd in September which has seen some matches in the domestic top-flight league being screened live on SuperSport television channels.
“The Supersport deal remains mysterious two months after it was signed. As clubs, we still do not know what is in the agreement.
“This agreement is for the PSL clubs and yet it remains confidential. The same clubs do not have access to it. What exactly is in this agreement? Was it approved by the clubs? Is it a fair deal to the clubs?,” asked Dynamos secretary-general Raymond Kazembe in a letter copied to other Premiership clubs.

PSL chairman Twine Phiri said he was not in a position to comment on the deal yet.
He said he would meet his executive to come up with a date for the meeting.
“I am not in a position to comment about the Supersport deal now. We will be meeting as an executive and then come up with a date for the meeting,” said Phiri.
The clubs have called for an emergency meeting with the league management to seek clarification on the issue.
