Miracle Boys take aim at WhaWha

The Miracle Boys are unbeaten in their last six matches, winning three and sharing points in as many.

BY COURAGE NYAYA Yadah coach Genesis Mangombe is hoping that his side will continue with their good form when they take on basement side WhaWha at the National Sports Stadium today.

The Miracle Boys are unbeaten in their last six matches, winning three and sharing points in as many.

They beat Dynamos, ZPC Kariba and Ngezi Platinum Stars, while managing to hold Harare City, Manica Diamonds and Black Rhinos.

That good run of results has seen them move out of the relegation zone into eleventh position on the log standings.

Yadah have now accumulated 28 points, six clear of Harare City, a team which is occupying the relegation cut off point.

“We are preparing well for this game,” Mangombe told NewsDay Sport yesterday.

“My boys have gained momentum at the right time and we hope to continue with our good form.”

Yadah lost the reverse fixture 1-0 at Ascot Stadium.

“I remember we dominated the whole match but dominating possession without collecting points is pointless, so we are actually going to change that. We need to score goals,” Mangombe urged.

Victory here will see Yadah moving further away from the relegation zone.

“Winning this game is also crucial for us as it will boost the moral going into the Chibuku Super Cup first round fixtures where we will be facing Manica Diamonds. We need to go for maximum points.”

WhaWha might be bottom of the log, but are no pushovers. They have managed to pull some surprises this season, beating big teams such as Ngezi Platinum Stars, Highlanders and Chicken Inn.

“Every team that is in the relegation zone is very dangerous and WhaWha on a good day can produce results from nothing,” Mangombe reckoned.

“They are a very good side so we need to give them the respect they deserve. We are going to make sure that we play our normal football which is fast passing and entertaining football. But more importantly, we need to capitalize on the chances we are going to create in this encounter.”

Whawha go into the match buoyed by their penalty shootout victory over Cranborne Bullets in the Chibuku Super Cup preliminary round match on Saturday.
