ZIMDANCEHALL artiste Emegy Chizanga — popularly known as Freeman in music circles — has rubbished claims by upcoming gospel artiste Keith Blaxx that they once clashed over a woman who was at that time involved with the latter’s music partner, Twenty-One Styles.

Blaxx told NewsDay that the woman is, however, now married to someone else, while he has since patched up his differences with Freeman.

“I had a beef with Freeman and it did not go down well, but we are very good friends now. We realised at a later stage that the enmity was not doing us any good so we came to an understanding to stop all the drama,” he said.

Blaxx said his relationship with Freeman deteriorated to an extent that they could not be in one recording studio at the same time.

He said the woman at the centre of the fight eventually settled for Freeman although their relationship was short-lived and the Joina City hitmaker eventually tied the knot with Barbra Chinhete in 2012.

Freeman, however, accused Blaxx of trying to ride on his fame to make a name for himself.

“I do not know anyone by the name Keith Blaxx. The guy is just trying to tarnish my image and probably looking for fame,” he said.

Blaxx is into reggae gospel, rhumba and zimdancehall and has so far released one five-track album titled Music is My Life.

He draws his inspiration from the Jamaican reggae group TOK and long-forgotten urban groover, Decibel, Kinner and Major E.

His dream is to collaborate with artistes such as Michael Mahendere, Hubert Chigumira and Joyce Semeti.

Born Keith Masimba Goredema, Blaxx has since moved from Nhubu Studios to SGK Records.
