Zeng Xianhui, was granted $100 bail and remanded to this week for trial by magistrate Florence Nago.

Allegations are that Xianhui was found working at Gransharp Enterprises, a Kwekwe-based company without a valid work permit.

The court heard that on July 16 this year officers from the Zimbabwe Immigration Department, acting on a tip-off visited Gransharp Enterprises plant in Kwekwe.

The immigration officials observed that Xianhui was fitting a flotation machine which was being mounted in the plant.

They requested the site manager to produce passports of all the foreigners, who were working in the plant and they found that the accused person was a holder of a visitor’s entry certificate, which does not allow him to work while in Zimbabwe.

Several other Chinese without proper documents have been arrested in the Midlands province, with the majority picked up at gold mining sites.
