The group’s marketing manager, Peter Thole, told NewsDay yesterday that they were excited with the latest victory.

“Our success is due to the hard work which we put in the previous week and this win is still very important to us because learning does not end. Every time when you compete with others, their aim is to beat the previous winner. So, we are still learning and there is quite a lot to learn from choral music,” he said.

Thole said although the group had become a serial winner in international and regional competitions, each win was unique and valuable.

“Winning this time around also has its value because it is evidence that we are the real champions and a choir to reckon with when it comes to choral music in Zimbabwe and the region,” he said.

Thole added that if the local choral industry was to grow, it was important for stakeholders to admit that they did not know everything in music and, hence, seek assistance from those who knew better and ensure that the standard of choral music in Zimbabwe improved.

Heavenly Praise Choir took second position, with Spiritoso Choracle coming third in the battle of choral music outfits.

Midlands State University (MSU) Choracle came fourth and Bulawayo Choristers clinched fifth position. Chitungwiza Harmony Singers has become one of the best choral ensembles in the country.

They have participated at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, the regional finals of the Old Mutual National Choral Festival in South Africa and the International Choral Festival in the United States.
