This will be the first time the two musicians share the stage in the farming town for close to two years, and the show that will be held on the eve of Unity Day is expected to attract scores of music lovers, given that the duo have rarely disappointed fans at their shows.

The gig is also meant to celebrate the return of top promoter, Daniel Masaiti, who spent about two months in a South African medical centre, where his leg was amputated due to an ailment.

Masaiti returned home last week, and is now walking with the aid of an artificial leg.

Speaking to NewsDay yesterday, Masaiti said it was an honour to bring the two award-winning artistes under one roof.

“The show was long overdue. I am happy that the original Khiama Boys will be performing together for the first time in Marondera after a long time. This means there will be an overdose of great sungura music,” he said.

“Moreover, we expect the two musicians to perform a song, which they are currently doing together as Khiama Boys, and I am confident that the fans will like this. All in all, the gig came at a right time when most fans are now in a festive mood. We have a perfect Christmas present for them in the form of Macheso and Zakaria.”

Macheso is also expected to introduce the much-hyped Muzerere, dance, which has become a fan favourite. The two artistes are expected to take revellers down the memory lane by playing renditions of the Khiama Boys in their heyday including Mabvi Nemagokora.
