CELEBRATED jazz artiste and producer Clive “Mono” Mukundu has released the eighth edition of Anatha Brick, a 17-track collection album featuring a number of both up-and-coming and established artistes across genres.

This year’s edition which was produced at Monolio Studios features Dereck Mpofu, dendera ace Sulumani Chimbetu, mbira queen Hope Masike, Tocky Vibes, Progress Chipfumo, and Roy and Royce. Speaking to NewsDay on Monday, Mukundu said the project was meant to give a platform to up-and-coming musicians who were yet to be heard.
“The project is meant to promote new artistes while linking them with a few established ones,” he said.
The musician said the collection was also a chance to showcase the versatility of his production skills.
Mukundu said the project had helped to market other artistes in the past who were now established brands, among them Derek Mpofu, music group G56 and Masike.
Some of the songs on the album are Forward by Jefari, Larisa by Kambo Boys, Mapfunde by Hope Masike, Kwatazonke by Tocky Vibes, It’s Not Necessary by Sulumani Chimbetu, Heal My Heart by a gospel ensemble Wired to Worship, Overdose, which was sang by Grange Christian School students and Hukama by urban groovers Roy and Royce, among others.
Mukundu is one of the most recorded artistes in the country, having featured in over 700 local and international albums.

He has played the guitar for virtually all the country’s music legends including Oliver Mtukudzi, Thomas Mapfumo and the late Andy Brown, among others and has produced for many artistes including Richard of the Zviri Kumbofamaba Sei fame and Kambo Music.
