A SUSPECTED criminal who allegedly terrorised Victoria Falls residents and tourists for four years has appeared in court after being apprehended at his hideout in Zambia. Bongani Moyo (38), from Victoria Falls, was staying illegally in Livingstone, at Lubuyu Compound, where he would cross into Victoria Falls and break into cars, houses and hotels, and torture victims for cash, electrical gadgets, cellphones, bicycles and clothes.

Moyo appeared on Tuesday before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje, where he pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of theft, assault and unlawful entry, robbery and illegally exiting Zimbabwe.
Representing the State, Listen Nare said Moyo was tracked and arrested at his hideout in Livingstone after breaking into Zambezi Horse Trails belonging to Alison Baker (61) on February 28.
Armed with a knife and rope, Moyo, together with two other accomplices still at large, broke into Zambezi Horse Trails, blindfolded Baker and assaulted her before tying her up in the bush at night and went on to steal cash, in different currencies, a pellet gun and valuables worth about $3 000.
Using the same modus operandi, Moyo broke into several hotels, lodges and houses.
In another count, Moyo illegally crossed into Victoria Falls on September 7 in 2014 and broke into a house belonging to Stanfordias Ndlovu in Aerodrome suburb and stole a laptop, a video camera, HTC and Blackberry cellphones, all valued at $1 200.
Last year in October, he also robbed Daniella Elazar (27) of $1 500 and clothing valued at $1 600.

In May last year, the suspect allegedly broke into Breeze FM premises at 220 Kingsway and stole a Samsung tablet and an iPhone 5 both valued at $700 belonging to presenter Thanduxolo Ndlovu.
He was remanded in custody and his trial will continue next week.
