Groombridge Primary School headmaster Akino Stephen Humphrey, who was arraigned in court last month facing fraud charges, was back in court last week charged with criminal abuse of duty.
In the latest case, Humphrey (59) is being accused of making sexual advances to a female secretary of the School Development Association (SDA).
State counsel Francisca Mukumbiri told the court the incident occurred sometime this month. After being snubbed, Humphrey allegedly refused to enrol the SDA secretary’s child at the school and allegedly threatened her with unspecified action.
“According to the school’s regulations, the complainant is entitled to send her child to a school she works for and in this case the complainant is the SDA secretary,” Mukumbiri said.
On Friday, Harare magistrate Barbra Masinire remanded the matter to July 2 for a ruling on Humphrey’s application for discharge. In March this year, Humphrey appeared in court on charges of ill-treating a Grade Four pupil.
He was accused of punishing the pupil by making the girl stand in the rain after she arrived late at school. Late last month, Humphrey was also arraigned before the court charged with fraud after he allegedly used his personal receipt book to swindle parents of $2 115 in an alleged environmental club scam.
