First launched in 1978, the prestigious awards are presented annually to honour South Africa’s finest brand communications, specialists in architecture, direct marketing, live events, video, digital media, design and print and radio advertising.

According to a statement issued by Ogilvy Zimbabwe yesterday, the advertising firm won a gold for the Radar Security “Recruitment” campaign and a silver for the “Dirty Money” campaign for Carex Handwash in outdoor and collateral media at the 35th annual Loerie Awards at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

The network was also awarded bronze medals for the Radar Security “Recruitment” campaign in the outdoor and collateral media along with the “Save the Elephant” campain for the East African Wildlife Society and the “Heal Africa” campaign for People Newspaper in the print category.

Ogilvy and Mather, according to the statement, services 500 companies as well as local businesses through its network of more than 450 offices in 120 countries.

Ogilvy Zimbabwe executive chairman Alistair Carlisle said: “These awards are the latest in a long line of creative accolades won by the Ogilvy network across Africa and they are a tribute first to the clients who showed faith in the agency and its creativity and second to the network, which has a strong and positive reach across the continent, including here in Zimbabwe.”

Early this year, the advertising agency won the local Ngoma Awards.
