BULAWAYO, Apr. 23 (NewsDay Live) — Cimas Health Group chief executive officer Vulindlela Ndlovu has described healthcare as a critical pillar and strategic asset in driving Zimbabwe’s economic transformation.
Speaking during the International Business Conference at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair on Wednesday, Ndlovu said Zimbabwe’s long-term development hinges on deliberate investment in key foundational sectors, with healthcare at the core.
“Structural transformation is about deliberate choices — how we prioritise policy, deploy capital, build skills and align partnerships to turn growth into lasting national progress,” he said.
Ndlovu identified education, agriculture, tourism and healthcare as critical pillars for national development, noting that these sectors directly shape human capability, productivity and national confidence.
“Healthcare is not peripheral to Zimbabwe’s transformation agenda. It is one of its most powerful drivers. Health is not only a moral imperative — it is productive capital. It is what makes growth possible in the first place,” he said.
He noted that a healthy population is essential for sustained productivity, workforce stability and overall economic resilience.
