Four people accused of illegally buying and selling fertiliser sourced from the Presidential Inputs Programme recently appeared before the Beitbridge Magistrates Court.
The accused were arrested at Chemistry Ndou’s Dulibadzimu residence in the border town after police recovered 70 x 50kg bags of fertiliser.
They are denying the charges and appeared in court without legal representation.
During proceedings, two witnesses from the National Anti-Corruption Association of Zimbabwe (NACAZ) testified, presenting what the court heard was incriminating evidence against the accused.
The witnesses told the court that the four were caught red-handed selling the presidential fertiliser at Ndou’s residence.
The matter was adjourned to January 8, 2025, for continuation of trial.
Police officers from ZRP Beitbridge Urban are expected to testify.
The case has attracted public attention amid growing concern over corruption and the abuse of government programmes meant to benefit farmers.
