BUSINESSMAN and philanthropist Justice Matsatsira has pledged personal and institutional support towards the continued growth of Innovate Institute, describing its journey as “a true testament to vision, perseverance, and innovation”.
Addressing parents, learners, teachers and guests at an awards ceremony held recently, Matsatsira praised the institute for its remarkable transformation from a modest beginning in 2019 with only nine learners to an enrolment of over 600 students today.
“This story of growth reflects what is possible when faith, hard work, and innovation come together,” he said, lauding the school director EslineSibanda and his team for turning the institution into “a centre of academic excellence”.
Matsatsira noted with pride that Innovate Institute has achieved a 100% pass rate at Advanced Level and has produced alumni excelling in diverse fields including business, sport, politics and arts.
“What inspires me most is not just the academic achievements but the holistic development Innovate Institute promotes — nurturing disciplined, creative and responsible citizens,” he said.
Matsatsira took the opportunity to speak against the growing menace of drug and substance abuse among youth, describing it as a threat to national progress.
As part of his commitment, Matsatsira announced a pledge to assist in the development of the school’s infrastructure, support empowerment projects and facilitate linkages between the school and the industry.
Sibanda said her school had undergone a remarkable transformation since its inception.

“From humble beginnings, the institution has navigated numerous challenges, demonstrating resilience and determination,” she said.
“Despite initial obstacles, the institute has consistently strived for excellence, driven by a passion for innovation, a commitment to nurturing talent and to see children reaching their full potential academically, socially, emotionally and economically.”
Action for Empowerment Zimbabwe chief executive officer Violet Nkathazo said her organisation has partnered schools such Innovate Institute to support initiatives that build leadership, strengthen life skills, encourage innovation and promote community service.
“Whether it’s through capacity-building workshops, mentorship programmes, student clubs, or community outreach, our aim is to empower young people to grow not just as students, but as leaders who can positively shape Zimbabwe’s future,” she said.
The ceremony, themed From Effort to Excellence: A Journey Worth Celebrating, recognised outstanding learners and educators for their academic and extracurricular achievements.
