At the restless heart of Harare where ambition competes with adversity and every street corner tells a story, a new voice is rising above the noise. Tanaka Michael Kasipo popularly known as Kas The Great is making waves in the hip-pop industry.
"Growing up in Harare, I was inspired by the hustle and stories around me, the struggles and dreams of my community."
At 27, the Harare-born artiste is not just making music, he’s building a movement. And at the centre of it, is one bold philosophy, trap (take risks and prosper).
For Kas The Great, trap isn’t about glamourising the grind, it is the grind.
What began as freestyling with friends has exploded into a high-energy sound that fuses global trap with unmistakable Zimbabwean flavour. His music is raw, melodic and unapologetically authentic. It captures township ambition with international swagger.
From Freestyles to Fire Tracks, Kasipo doesn’t sit down with pen and paper, he creates in the moment.
"I start with a beat that resonates with my mood."
Armed with a beat that matches his mood, he steps into the booth and build his songs line by line using the punch-in method thinking of a bar, recording it, then stacking the next until the track is complete, keeping his sound alive.

His creative chemistry with producer Ninosage NSB has been a game-changer.
Together, they are part of 04 TRAP MAFIA an independent studio movement born out of necessity and ambition.
What started as a solution to limited studio access has evolved into a creative powerhouse determined to compete at industry level.
Inspired by musical giants and rooted at home, Kas The Great proudly blends local and international inspiration.
He draws melodic storytelling influence from Takura, while global trap heavyweights like Lil Baby, Melvoni, Future and Nasty C, shape his sound.
"Locally, Takura’s melodic style and storytelling influence me a lot. Internationally, I look up to Lil Baby, Melvoni, Future and Nasty C, they inspire my flow, delivery and the way I craft my hooks."
But beyond musical icons, his biggest inspiration remains everyday life in Harare, the lifestyle, the people, the ambition burning in young dreamers who refuse to quit.
In April 2022, he released T.R.A.P., a melodic anthem that didn’t just drop, it detonated and became a breakthrough that changed everything.
The track sparked conversation, attracted attention and turned heads on the local music scene. But it was the first live performance that truly shook him.
“When I first performed it live, the crowd’s reaction was incredible and people were singing along. That moment really showed me that my music was making an impact. "
That electric crowd reaction marked a turning point. Suddenly, Kas The Great wasn’t just another aspiring rapper he was an artiste connecting deeply with an audience hungry for representation and real stories.
Like all other emerging artistes Kas The Great faced a fair share of challenges such as limited resources and high production costs but all these barriers didn’t slow him down, they fuelled him.
Instead of waiting for opportunity, he and his team made it, launching 04 TRAP MAFIA to produce industry-quality sound on their own terms.
The move slashed costs and amplified independence, giving them creative control in a competitive industry.
"These challenges have made me more determined and independent."
Kas The Great is not thinking small. He’s planning a wave of singles, EPs, major collaborations and visuals designed to push his brand beyond Zimbabwe’s borders and to the African stage.
His vision is clear, trap bangers layered with Zimbabwean melodies, delivered with stadium-ready intensity.
From the vibrant streets of Harare to global platforms, Kas The Great is taking the risk
and proving that the energy surrounding him is more than electrifying.
