DESTINY for Afrika Network (DANet) has launched a large-scale housing and empowerment initiative aimed at uplifting Christians across Zimbabwe.
Speaking at the launch event in Mutare, DANet leader Obadiah Musindo announced that his organisation would provide 12 000 stands for new church hubs, 50 000 stands for church leaders, and over 200 000 stands for Christians in both urban and rural areas.
The programme reportedly includes a flexible five-year payment plan to make homeownership more accessible for believers.
“Christians are not destined to live in poverty. Poverty is not our portion. The new church hubs will go beyond being places of worship,” he said.
“They are expected to become community development centres, offering vocational training, social welfare services and creating job opportunities.”
Musindo also called for the empowerment of pastors, many of whom he said face hardship after leaving full-time ministry.
He encouraged them to acquire modern leadership skills and start their own businesses rather than depending solely on offerings.
“Pastors must not just preach, they must work. They must not just pray, they must do something,” he indicated.

“The President’s vision addresses the whole person — spirit, body and mind. As churches, we must stand with government and play our part.”
The country’s housing backlog stands at just over two million.
In its election blueprint, the ruling Zanu PF party promised to deliver 220 000 housing units by 2025 and over 470 000 homes by 2030.
Government has failed to meet the target and has since roped in the private sector.
