THE Council of Churches in Africa (CCA) says it prays for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s continued rule as he celebrates his 83rd birthday.

Mnangagwa celebrated his birthday in the Mapanzure area of Zvishavane, Midlands on Monday.

The President, who replaced his late predecessor Robert Mugabe, is serving his second and last term which expires in 2028.

The ruling Zanu PF is pushing for an extension of his term of office to 2030 in line with a resolution adopted at the party’s 2024 annual conference.

The CCA said it was in support of Mnangagwa’s continued rule in its birthday congratulatory message.

“As spiritual leaders, we recognize your dedication to the welfare of the Zimbabwean people and your efforts to promote national development and unity,” CCA president Rocky Moyo said in a statement.

“We pray for continued wisdom, guidance, and strength as you lead our nation.

“We wish you many more years of fruitful service to our great nation, Zimbabwe.”

CCA is an African continental ecumenical and ecclesiastical body representing Apostolic, Zion and Pentecostal churches.
